Dominant women who don’t enjoy wearing leather, PVC, latex, boots or whatever might be considered stereotypical dominatrix drag are pretty vocal about letting everyone know that they don’t wear it and resent any assumption that they will.

Even though some of them are women I greatly esteem I do wonder: is anybody asking them to? Have there been any submissive men who rejected them because they declared that they wouldn’t be caught dead in a PVC miniskirt? Or are they irked by the standardized representation of dominant women?

What about submissive women? Within private kink-space naked and on knees seems to be what you most commonly hear about. Some wear collars; those are usually cherished. Some are expected to wear high heels ( - or —- much worse ballet slippers: the most painful footwear of all time - ).

Dominant heterosexual men seem to tend toward jeans and t-shirts - standard American Wal-Mart garb - maybe a vest, some wristbands.

Dominant gay men purportedly have a post-WWII tradition of wearing clothing derived from military outfits like visored caps and items like leather chaps.

It seems rare for submissive guys to be expected to wear much special, excepting perhaps a collar.

Where does kinky attire, fetish wear fit into your BDSM play or socialization? Regardless of gender or orientation is dressing up (as it were) something:

• You hate
• Do with reluctance
• Enjoy
• Do to please
• Reserve for very special occasions

Does reluctance have anything to do with a lack of confidence about your appearance? Or a fear you’ll look foolish? Or are you simply bored with what seems to be the tritest sort of aesthetics?

If you enjoy any sort of fetish attire does it make you feel sexy? Somehow reinforce your sense of role. A habit?

Is there some sort of clothing that you enjoy wearing for, say, scenes, that is outside what is perceived as the BDSM norm? Or are your choices governed by comfort and utility?
