BDSM and Health

» Play

Don’t you hate being sick? The past couple of weeks I’ve felt as though my purpose in life has been to cough and shiver. Makes it hard to maintain a website.

Health problems are a real hindrance to most all forms of BDSM. Who feels submissive when they have a headache? An upset stomach surely dampens masochism. Tiredness is anathema to dominance.

These things are especially tough on partners who don’t live near one another and have very limited time for play. Aside from the physical discomfort you may feel guilty in being unable to please the other person.

Mental health woes are probably tougher and more terrifying. Depression often puts all aspects of life on hold. When a top in a lifestyle relationship is battling emotional stress the submissive member may have to take over decision making, which can leave her or him disoriented and depressed as well.

Have health issues played a role in your participation in d/s and s&m? Has it ended relationships? How do you coped when you when you aren’t feeling well?

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about BDSM and Health. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
